Dear FI users,
Starting today, there is a new setting availabe in your digest settings panel. This is a "logo removal" setting, new paid option. This option is already available, and you can make a payment for it, but the payment processing will start on Monday, next week.
Let me use an example: you have a digest and you want the logo removed from it. You can pay today, your payment will be processed on Monday and your digest will not have the logo. You can pay on Monday or any other day as well, of course.
Starting next week, payments will be processed in 24 hours. We added the payment option prematurely to make sure everyone who wants the logo removed has enough time to use the option before we start displaying those logos.
Please note also that if you had no logo before, you still need to pay for "logo removal" option to keep, well, this logo removed, and, if you pay before Monday, it will not appear at all.
And, of course, if you don't care about the logo, you don't need to do anything.
Yours,
FI Team

For a mere $50 per digest, which *might* be reasonable for an enterprise-class service that actually offered more than half-assed support from nameless entities. For this service, though, as much use as I've had out of it, that's an insane fee.

Yes! That is f****** insane!

50 dollars per digest is laughable, especially for this service. Half of the time it does not work, and the support is awful. I will be seeking alternatives.

If you're comfortable with PHP, check out Simple Pie (simplepie.org). Another alternative I'm considering is WidgetBox, which lets you create up to 10 "Pro" customized widgets for $3.99/month or $30/year. You can create a commingled feed through Google Reader, then use WidgetBox to get JavaScript or Flash to embed on your site. Simple Pie is a lot more flexible, but also more complex. One other service I came across today that might work for some users here is Feed Mingle (feedmingle.com). It's simple, but totally free.

Hello everyone,
Let me explain our new logo removal policy and our plans regarding Feed Informer.
First of all, we plan to switch to free service model and take payments for support or, in some rare and unusual cases, for logo removal. Hence the new price for it.
What happens with those logos in free digests in future? Well, we plan to make those logos highly customizable. There will be several choices for graphic logo, so you can integrate it in your own design with no problems, or, if it doesn't work for you, we will provide a text logo option. This text will be completely customizable via CSS - size, color, fonts, etc.
We do not want to rip you off with the new pricing, actually, there is no way we can make a fortune with those $50 per digest and we know it and I hope you understand this as well. We want to make a free Feed Informer more appealing, providing you with additional customization and new choices and settings, and we plan to use a paid options only if you absolutely have to get rid of the logo.

Dear Administration,
You have to realize you will lose most of your customer base if you insist on charging outrageous fees so that your clients can have clean looking web pages that incorporate your digests. I currently use 20 of your digests at http://www.lastdayreport.com and there is no way I will pay $50 for logo removal or $50 per digest for support, or whatever very expensive fee structures you offer. But, I could see myself paying $5 per digest without the logo, and better customer service support.
It comes down to this. Overnight you have ruined the look of my website and only offer a very expensive option to correct this. I'm very upset as you have me hostage. I have never in my life seen a company incorporate such an outrageous fee structure with no reasonable pricing options for a workaround. Unfortunately you have caught all of us by surprise. So, at this time looking for other options and will be leaving Feed Informer as soon as I have it figured out.
Thanks, Frank

Honestly? this is a pure rip off any way you look at it.
You have made an awful business move here.

Thanks for the info, railbird! It looks like you can make a combined feed with feedmingle, and then use RSSFeedReader to publish a feed that search engines can index. RSSFeedReader has a php option as well as java. SimplePie sounds interesting because I would really like to do as much as possible on my own web server.

Is there any chance of more affordable logo removal pricing? or big discounts for people who might want logo removal on 5, 10, or 20+ feeds?

You must be kidding me.
