   Some recent entries in my feed are not showing up...

   This feed actually comes from a feedburner feed...

   http://feeds.feedburner.com/WhaleBlogMashup-Greenpeace

   If you compare the two feeds, there are several entries in the Feedburner feed that are not in the Feeddigest feed. "World record protest ideas?" for example. There are entries both before and after the missing entries. I have "remove duplicates" turned OFF. I can not see any difference between the entries.

   Some background (likely irrelevant):

   What I am doing is using Yahoo pipes to mix a feed, Feedburner to track it, feed digest to display it (customizable templates). I suppose I could take feedburner out out of the mix, but it does not seem to be causing the problem.

   So going....

   Different RSS feeds -- > Yahoo pipes -- > Feedburner -- > Feeddigest

   Feedburner feed has entries that the feeddifest feed does not.

   Any help welcome!

   Just to let you know I'm not ignoring this post. Will most likely look into it tomorrow.

   Things to try before then:

   1. Change your digest order to "Original order" rather than date/time.
   2. Change your digest's quantity to the max to see if items are out of order rather than missing.

   Tried both. No effect.

   The max number of items is set at 10 because I only have a trial account. Only 9 items appear in the feed.

   Since I noticed this problem I have posted new entries to the problem blog, which do not appear. New entries have also been posted to the one of the other blogs in the feed, which DO show up.

   The only entry from the problem blog is listed about halfway through the list.

   Next I tried using the Yahoo Pipes feed directly (instead of the Feedburner feed). Same problem, only one item from the Defending Whales blog is showing up in the Feeddigest output. BUT, a it is a *different* one from when was using the Feedburner feed.

   New input feed...

   Seems like a really odd problem. Am totally stumped. Thanks for your help.

   I have not publicized this feed yet so please do feel free to make any changes for trouble shooting purposes.

   I haven't implemented a fix yet, but I'm 99% sure what it is just on sight.

   Yahoo Pipes, for some reason, is giving each item in the feed a blank 'unique identifier'. We use these identifiers (called GUIDs) to identify unique items, as this is what it was designed for. Yahoo Pipes is giving every item a blank one, so they all have the same, blank identifier.

   If I add a tweak to our parser so that it ignores blank identifiers, we should be okay. So.. this is really a Yahoo problem, as such, but it's one we can make our parser liberal about to get it to work ;-) I'll try to get that rolled out this weekend!

    Ooops! Sorry, spoke to soon. Looking at the pipes feed compared to the feeddigest output...

    The entries from the problem blog listed above are now there. BUT entries from all other blogs are now missing.

    For example, in the Yahoo Pipes feed, entry number 4 is "Going to Okinawa to see whales". This entry is missing in the Feeddigest output. There are entries both before and after the missing one that do show up in the FeedDigest output.

    To summarize:

    Before - All entries (except one) from the Defending Whales blog were missing.

    Now - All entries from the other blogs are missing, but all entries from the Defending Whales blog are there.

    There is also a duplicate entry, but suspect this is a separate problem. (It is an entry where I edited the title.) Will open a new thread if needed.

    Just to do a quick triage first.. this isn't a case where the old items are merely 'pushed down' by the new ones? You can prove this by changing your sort orders.

    OK, have edited my feeddigest settings for this feed.

    "Order Items By" was set to "original order" "descending".

    Changed to "ascending", and items from the missing blogs did show up.

    Changed to "Item date" "descending". Problem (seems to be) solved.

    Selected "Filter items with duplicate URLs". Duplicate item disappears.

    All problems resolved!! Thanks again!

    Aha, I thought it might have been something to do with that.

    Original order depends entirely on when something went into our database. Since the 'broken' feed was only added in its entirety a few days ago, it ends up at the top of the pile :) You seem to have figured it out :)

    I'm closing this thread now, but open another if anything else crops up.
