Sorry for the inconvenience. Your digests should be up-to-date by the moment.
The problem still occured. The feed will only be update 7-8 hrs after the actual site have updated. Please assist. Thank you.
Dear modesliga,
could you please make sure the timezone in your digest settings is the same as in the source feed. This may cause the issue you described.
If it is not the case, please provide us with the link to the site you insert digest in. You can use Feed Informer contact form to provide personal information.
Hi admin, I'm not sure the time is correct or wrong as some of the feed I required have not stated anytime. But I have recheck the feed again on my website, whatever is updated on the actual site on Thursday still not updated in my website when I check it today which is Saturday.
You can view my website at this link http://modesliga.blogspot.com/p/spare.html. Kindly help.
Thank you very much and regards.
Hi modesliga,
we'll look into into it.
Please also make sure that the page where your digest is embedded is accessed on a regular basis, otherwise Feed Informer will not update digest's contents. For example, if you embed a digest into a test page that is not requested often (or not accessed at all), that digest won't update.
modesliga,
turns out it was our fault, this issue should be resolved now. Please check and report back if you still experience any problems with digests' updates.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks admin for your assistant, somehow the issue still exist. Kindly assist.
Here is the actual feed link http://www.nst.com.my/cmlink/badminton-feed-1.10272?localLinksEnabled=false.
Here is my embeded feed page http://modesliga.blogspot.com/p/spare.html.
The latest news are not included. Regards.
It is updated now after I refresh the embeded page a few times.
Do this criteria still apply "Please also make sure that the page where your digest is embedded is accessed on a regular basis, otherwise Feed Informer will not update digest's contents."? If yes, is there anyway we can overcome this problem? Kindly advise.
Regards.
Hello modesliga,
yes, this condition still applies. As an option to overcome the issue you may use some kind of automatic script that will request your digest from time to time.
Hi admin, I'm new in this script stuff. Been finding aroud the net but couldn't find any example that can work. Would you be kind enough to give a script that will work? Kindly advise.
Regards.
Hi modesliga,
here you can find some basic tips on how to request a web page at regular intervals through crontab jobs:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/archive/index.php/t-167445.html
http://forums.cpanel.net/f5/cron-job-call-web-page-60253.html
http://serverfault.com/questions/96427/cron-job-to-open-a-webpage
Hi admin, I have searching for a suitable cron job site right away after I visited your link provided. I have try to used two site which is Setcronjob.com and also Getcronjob.com. Unfortunately both don't seen to be working well to update my news portal website.
Admin, do you currently using any free cron job site yourself? Can you recommend to me? One of the 2 sites I visited above told me there is a limitation on updating the web page when it is from blogspot. So they updated my feed address rather then my webpage.
Really need your assistant on this. Thank you very much.
Hi Modesliga,
crontab is an integral part of any Unix/Linux distribution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crontab). Naturally I (and, I guess, many thousands of admins around the world) use it routinely every day. My bad, I haven't paid attention that your site is hosted on Blogspot, which means you don't have shell access to the server.
Unfortunately, I did not use any alternatives for the original crontab and can't advise anything particular.
Anyway Blogspot is not a good option if you have any long-term plans for your site, I'd advise you to move to a real web hosting service with all those bells and whistles that it comes with, including shell access. The possible downside for you is you'll have to learn Linux basics, but for me it turned out to be a good thing when I started to learn Linux many years ago, so don't turn this option down right away.
Alternatively you could promote your website to attract more visitors, about a hundred a day would be enough, I guess, to keep your digests up-to-date.
Hi admin, thanks for your valuable advise. Much appreciated.
