I've been tracking the source feed (http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run?_id=a658d04b6c38e8275f0100b47aa5ac47&_render=rss) for some time, and found out that sometimes requests to it fail due to connection timeout error. It happens quite rarely, about several times a day. Other than that everything works as intended.

Please specify the URLs of your current source feed(s) and of the digest or widget you actually use, we'll try to investigate this issue further.
In any case, if your source feeds are accessible and are valid all the time, and your widget gets requests often enough, the widget should receive updates reliably.
Probably at least one of these conditions is not met.

I am afraid I can't reproduce this issue on our side. It may be some specific issue related to your source feed.

Well, it depends on how often your source feed is updated. Generally, if the page with the widget is requested every 5 minutes, it would be enough.

Oh ok I didn't knew that ! but I have just started my website and I'm analyzing the first google analytics results, so about how many viewers are we talking about ?

Please take into account that each widgets/digest is cached independently, they can be out of sync at any given moment.

There is definetly some wrong going, more than 40 minutes, and no update yet...
And the embed widget result is different than the digested rss here : http://feed.informer.com/digests/OUZA9KJUUP/feeder.rss

Yeah I have found this webpage earlier. But in fact I have succeeded to produce the pubDate from the Unix timestamp in the xml from Last.fm :)
I am gonna watch how it updates now. But I've already notices that the preview here http://feed.informer.com/share/GCO3Y0XRTA
seems to be updated quicker, not it's not exactly the last.fm rss, but still. Why is the script result not identical ?
And do you notice the same strange behavior with empty item list as before or not ? cause if yes, I think I can't do any better this time with Yahoo Pipes...
It's a real pain in the a** this last.fm feed !

and I came up with something : do pubDates need to match this exact format :

You're right! I've just noticed that in fact there are 2 versions of the Last.fm feed :
1.0 : http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/1.0/user/haveyoumetced/recenttracks.rss
2.0 : http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/2.0/user/haveyoumetced/recenttracks.rss

The 1.0 seems to match a proper format, no need to get it through Yahoo Pipes !
And it does contain pubDate with each <item>
But it looks like Last.fm doesn't broadcast the same tracks in the 2 feeds, which is weird...

For now I'll watch the results with 1.0 to see if the widget output updates correctly,

Then, I'll try to rebuild my Yahoo Pipes, I think I did it wrong. This might be why sometimes the Pipes feed is empty.

But when I see that the feed is empty with my browser, a simple refresh is enough to fix it. And I assume it's the same if I refresh the page where is the widget, it will just make another call. So it should not be a problem for your parser. A least, not the second time! Does it ?

While investigating this issue we found out that your Pipes feed behave strangely: sometimes it contains the list of items, sometimes not (though the <channel> element is always present). Obviously we can't guarantee anything if it's a persistent issue with Pipes.

Also, despite your claim, <item> elements in your feed do not contain <pubDate> elements. The only pubDate available is for the <channel> element, which means that the items can't be sorted by date.

In my Yahoo pipes, I does have pubDate tag in it, so I don't think the problem is here. in filters, i put "original order", but now, I just have SOME of the items in the original feed in the output ! I have set the max to 20 items, but I just have something like 6 or 7 items, and they are not very recent...

I guess that since items in your Pipes feed don't have publishing dates, our parser is unable to sort and process them properly. Please try to set flag "Show live items only", and/or choose different sort method (not by the date) on "OUTPUT FILTERS" page. It looks like this solution worked for me.

Yeah! that's what I thought ! I succeeded to import the feed going out of my yahoo pipes, but it doesn't seem to update...
