Development plans are great, and I'm happy to read you're posting something along those lines since it means there are intentions to keep the service going. But before talking about templates and additional features, I think it would be good to focus on making the service more stable (fewer extended, unexplained outages would be nice) and returning unavailable features (such as payments -- I'd like to be a happy, paying customer again, as I was before).

Great service. It would be cool if there were templates that could simulate a newsletter format, you know, several columns, shorter and longer articles, rather than just one list (at least, I couldn't find a template like that). It would be really useful for sending out say a weekly bulletin to subscribers who probably don't read the RSS feed. In fact, if you could manage a mailing list within Informer too...! But now I'm getting carried away - I develop a few little bits of software and I know what it's like when people come along with these "amazing ideas" that would take months of development...!

Hi. I have been a loyal FD member for several years. I am trying to develop a new website feed for http://www.girlwhisper.com

The biggest problem I have with the new interface is the inability to preview feed amendments. Please bring back the old RSS/HTML/other previews ...

I am a customer, i.e. a person with some actual money prepared to pay a reasonable charge for reasonable service. The poor communication with FeedInformer - the lack of actual contact information here, etc., - has been a source of frustration, as has my inability to renew. I don't want to sound negative, as I actually like the service and I WANT TO PAY. As in Green Money. Simoleons. Dead Presidents. When you pay, you get value for value, ideally.

I am trying to take into account the fact that this is a transition period, and so some interruption makes sense. I use my feeds on my sites to funnel job opportunities to unemployed people, so my readers are jittery and in a bad mood. I hope I don't come off that way myself, just telling it like it is.

As a more technical point, on one of my feeds the more basic feeds don't seem to work, only the fancier ones in special "scroll windows." My "Texas Feed" is a case in point.

I would welcome contact from you, and I wish your new business enterprise well. If you are looking for a broader paying customer base, I will gladly give you solid public feedback for solid service as I would any other reliable vendor. The steering wheel is in your hands. Peace.

It's a bit of a garbage in/garbage out situation. Unfortunately, as you say, you have no real control over that garbage, and it's hard to tell where it's sneaking in. I had to go through your digest's output part by part to figure out where the error was. I guess the other digest has /another/ similar, but different, issue. Unfortunately some people who provide feeds leave garbage in their feeds or use software that generates the feed incorrectly, leading to parsing issues.

One potential workaround is to create a FeedBurner verison of the feed, then reprocess that. FeedBurner have extremely good sanitization for feeds and will typically output stuff that is perfectly readable.

Thanks Peter,

The performing arts section is fixed (though the front page is still not). How do I avoid having this characters show up if I don't know where they are? Even worse because this is an aggregator I have no control over what's included in most of them. How do I avoid having this problem recur constantly?

It appears that some item in your digest is corrupting the JavaScript and making it error out. Once a post that does that passes from the digest, your digest works again.

The Feed Informer staff have asked me to take a look at this considering it's a specialized problem so I will have a go at a workaround. Alternatively, using the PHP include there would resolve this more immediately.
