Okay, that worked! I am a newbie and clearly have some learning to do.

In the mean time I was so thrilled I immediately went over and subscribed for an account.

Yes, but you need to switch back to a non photo template first. Do that so the code changes and you'll see the bit that needs changing. The Flickr Slides template is for properly encoded photo feeds only.

Edit your digest. Near the template section there's a link you can click to manually edit your digest's template. It's in there :)

Well, I tried your suggestion but I am obviously missing something.

I cannot find the %DESCRIPTIONPLAIN% anywhere (template or otherwise)?

It depends. On full, properly encoded feeds that support images (such as those given by Flickr or Yahoo News) then you can use our "Flickr Slides" template as a base to create something.

Often, however, images are not encoded separately and are just referenced in the HTML descriptions for feed items. This is less than ideal, but by changing %DESCRIPTIONPLAIN% to %DESCRIPTION% in your digest's template manually you can get the images to render.

NASA IOTD is a particular pain though, as last time I checked (a year ago now, admittedly).. they did not include the image on a per-item basis but changed the image on a per-feed basis instead.. which is totally wrong. However, I rigged together a small hack for someone a year ago to get around this so it might be necessary to give you access to that if you continue to have no luck.

I cannot get the reader to display photos (e.g. from webshots RSS ot NASA's photo of the day). Am I doing something wrong or maybe the reader just doesn't support images?
