Cool - I'll give it a shot. Either way, I'm sold. This service (not to mention the great support) is well worth the price.

While substitutions are possible on content (and therefore removals), they're not that dynamic, I'm afraid. Although, that said.. I'm /wondering/ now whether something like:

<gsub from="%TITLE%" to="">%DESCRIPTIONPLAIN%</gsub>

would work.

I'd have to look at our source code to check, as I can't remember if tags are rendered before gsub directives. I think they are, and, to my own surprise, this might actually work! It's worth a try at least ;-)

That all out the way though, there's no "official" way to do this. Removing items with dupe titles, etc, is easy, as there's a feature for that, but typically that's where it ends. Do try the above hack though!

Thanks again for your prompt response. I think the only question I have left has to do with the flexibility - for example, in the feed below about marketing from a Google News search, the headline is repeated in the description. Is there any way at all to avoid that duplication - either by removing the headline or the repetition within the post itself?
Thanks again...

I agree. You folks have done a great job in taking the toil and mystery out of this kind of service. I can find my way around with HTML okay but that's not what I do for a living. The idea of getting some support is very attractive - for example, if I give it my best shot after reading the available docs and need a little assist in changing the type font/color or fetching the digests as you mentioned above, is that something that might be provided?
thanks again...

It's probably better to look at the "differences" as they're not competitors for most users.

SimplePie requires you know what you're doing with PHP. It runs on your own server and you have to get arm deep with configuration files, code, etc. That said, it's a very good solution if you can understand it and make it work.

Feed Digest, on the other hand, is easy to get up and running with, you get some support, you get more output formats to play with (multiple inclusion techniques, HTML, JS, WAP, ASP, etc) as well as OPML support, but you have to pay and also be aware it's a "remote" service (although there are ways to get around the disadvantages of that, by fetching the digests to store locally).

So the pros and cons of both tools/services are pretty different, and it should become apparent quite quickly when you try to do what it is you want to do which one to use :)

Sorry - figured it out - I needed to put it within a couple divs. Looks like a real nice service. I'm trying to find the right one - one question, what's the advantage of Feed Digest over SimplePie?
Thanks

Can you show me an example? Usually it should just fit in, as HTML usually does, but perhaps something odd is going on in this case (or maybe there's a long URL in the content causing havoc, etc). I can usually resolve these issues if I can see what's happening.

Hi - How can the feed be placed in a WordPress blog post without flowing out the page. The feed appears fine, but it's way too wide, so the blog sidebars are thrown off screen.
Thanks
