Why are feeds not checked for special characters and replaced with html entities like & a m p ; ? Because otherwise anyone using feed informer will not have a website that is 100% w3c validated?

Hi,

we have got the point. You use Flash format which is quite limited in terms of source encoding at the moment. Still there are some more formats you may choose from - js-html, rss, atom. They should work properly with UTF-8.

Hello,

we do not see any problems on our side (we check it on Firefox, just in case). It might take time to apply UTF-8 in settings.

Could you please check the digest once more and let us know if any strange characters are still there?

Hi,
I am using some french sources, and I get stange characters in the RSS feeds (ONID5GS5XX).
I have specified UTF-8 and French in the settings but it did not help.

The problem seems to be with your source RSS. It was generated with bad characters instead of special characters, you can see it if you check source RSS with http://www.feedvalidator.org.

I use b2evolution for my blogs. I canÂ´t see any errors in the blogs or in my feedreader.

How do I solve the problem?

The feed displayed OK last Friday but this morning (Monday) the different characters are back instead of the quotation marks, can you look at this again for me please.

I've had this problem too. I solved it by adding this META tag in the <head> of the page on which my digest is embedded:

<meta content='text/html; charset=UTF-8' http-equiv='Content-Type' />

Since it's there it's always showing every symbol such as ", Ã©, Ã§.

Perhaps adding that line under "Header Template" in "Digest Design" > "Edit template HTML manually" fixes it too. Not tried, as I don't wanna mess all up now it all works fine. (:

Me again. I have more information on my problem. The text looks fine when the page is first loaded. The characters appear when the screen is refreshed.
