More Information On Online Commonwealth Learning Online Institute Courses

Currently we deliver online reading courses in both self-taught and facilitated set-ups. Online courses for writing and special education are being designed. Our courses help teachers of all levels from foundational level up through the 12th grade. The learning solutions presented in each of the online courses should better prepare your pupils for college and further education.

Your Choice: Facilitated Vs. Self Paced Courses

Our self-paced courses can be progressed based on your agenda. There's no dates for finishing each lesson; you can study them when you have the time. A professional facilitator is always there to respond to any queries or worries that may crop up. They'll also provide you with a grade if you're taking the course for graduate credit. Self-paced courses take somewhere between 8 and fifteen hours to complete and participants earn 1/2 to one PDP credit. These are there to study at any time. Our facilitated courses, in contrast, give a more structured approach. Think of them as comprehensive workshop training in a specific subject over a 7 week time period. A trained, facilitator takes the course and sets targets and expectations that students must fulfill each week. Such courses take about fifty to seventy hours to finish and will earn you three graduate credits or 36 PDPs. They occur in Jan, Mar, May, July and Sept.

Course Topics

Our current online reading instruction courses focus on Instructing Spelling and Phonetics, Close Reading, Vocabulary Building and Integrating Five Core Reading Skills. They're crafted so that you can introduce your students to brand new ways of grasping the link between written words on a page and the sound of the words when spoken, and additionally to become speedier readers. All our online courses provide numerous teaching recommendations that you could use in your own classroom.

Earn Credits or Needham,Massachusetts Professional Development Points

Thanks to our development partnerships with MidAmerica Nazarene University, Westfield State University and Gordon College, each Commonwealth Learning Online Institute study course will earn you grad credits or PDPs to put towards the development of your career. Each individual facilitated format training course will earn you 36 PDPs or 3 graduate credits whilst the self-paced format earns a half or one credit. Further courses for 2 graduate credits are forthcoming.
