Season 02 Episode 10: B-Sides, Boat Days & Buried Tracks

Is Mad Ghoul Radio a horror show? Sometimes. But it’s always been more than that.

In this episode, I take you back to the roots—before the films, before the podcast, before the name. This whole thing started as a way to share the best music most people have never heard. Not just horror scores or creepy vibes—though there’s plenty of that too—but deep cuts, B-sides, forgotten grooves, and offbeat sounds that stick.

We kick things off somewhere unexpected: out on the lake. Sun overhead, pontoon gliding, cooler full, and a reggae track that hits different when you’re drifting through 250,000 acres of water. From there? A detour into nu-metal nostalgia, a cryptic trip back to the bunker, and a track that feels like a half-remembered dream melting on tape.

Episode 10 also marks the debut of a brand-new segment: Buried But Not Dead—a tribute to the songs that were overlooked, underplayed, or quietly left behind. These are the ones that still haunt me. I dig one out of my own DJ vault to kick it off.

There’s jazz, there’s funk, there’s analog synth madness. There’s Charles Bronson. There’s a band in ape masks. And there’s a final track—like always—from the master himself, Trent Reznor.

Slaughter Hotel was an attempt from Fernando to make a giallo film. Does he accomplish it? Listen and see what Greg and Ian think about it. Lastly To Be Twenty is what we would consider to be a sex romp comedy that eventually takes one of the darkest turns at the end that left us somewhat speechless. Listen to hear what was said about this very controversial ending. Unfortunately, there will be no Mortis Vision this week, but we will return hopefully on the next Double Double.
