No matter where I set the cartridge, it’s uncomfortably hot. Water heater is set at 120°. Everything else appears fine; water pressure, no leakage, etc.

When the handle is attached, if 3 o’clock is off, I would expect 11 would be very hot, 12 warm, and 1 cold. Right now the gauge is set so you can only crank the handle to 1:00 and it’s still very hot. Therm is reading ~110

If I turn the handle so it's barely on, the water is cold so I don't think it has to do with no cold water coming in. If I have the handle turned as far as it can go (hot), and slowly move it down (to the colder side), there's little to no change in temp. If I turn it down like 3/4 of the way, it gets very cold.

Other troubleshooting steps; I made sure both valve stops are open 100%, same results. Currently the hot water stop is slightly turned so it'll let less hot water in. Doesn't seem to change much. ( basically installing ice machines.) My utility company gave me a bill for 392 thousand gallons of water. And to say that an absolute ton of water for a home is an understatement. Obviously everyone's first assumption is a leak, and I did some checking. I watched the meter for a five minutes it ran 0.16 gallons, quick math on a calculator 1382.4 gallons over the course of month. I turned off the first ball valve in my house and meter stopped moving entirely. So a bit more measuring and looking online for the equation to measure water volume; I've come up with a minimum of 90' and a maximum of 110' of ¾" water line and no tool to measure the water velocity. But from installing and servicing ice machines i know water pressure in my town is always between 100psi and 80psi. Found an online calculator for that and ran the numbers and if I cut my water main at 90' and let it dump for a month it would come out to 335,232 gallons over 30 days. Water company been out 2 times, saying their number is correct. The first guys work order has completely vanished, like he never came in the first place. And the second guy took one of the 3 water meters out, and I'm betting when I call today that the work order will be gone as well. Can anyone please verify my math, so I can prove/disprove this amounts possibility.

   submitted by /u/Mine_Vegetable
[link] [comments] Plumbing /u/Mine_Vegetable Cold Water Tap A Bit Warm https://www.reddit.com/r/Plumbing/comments/1mo82is/cold_water_tap_a_bit_warm/ Plumbing help offered here, please post pictures. urn:uuid:6697cc82-48bc-b979-1dfd-a327ec57d8cf Tue, 12 Aug 2025 12:59:59 +0000

Over the past few weeks I noticed our cold water tap was a bit warmer than usual. Didn't see anything else that would cause such a lack in pressure. They're on a septic system / well water. Anyways, so when under the sink, the large brass nut that keeps the faucet tight to the sink is difficult to take off, lack of room on either on side (exterior wall and sink wall) prevents me from using a wrench. It doesn't have what faucets today have with a threaded ring and then a screw to tighten underneath to the sink underside. I bought a Klein multi plumber tool with what appears to be a hexagonal wrench for gripping the nut and twisting off. I have not gone over there since buying the tool to try. Are those faucet nuts that are thread on the long threaded part that contains the separate water lines a common size? I want to be sure the tool I bought will indeed fit and allow me to turn it to remove it and replace faucet. Thanks.

PS - If that doesn't work, I'm considering loosening the screws that hold the sink down and removing the drain pipes and pulling the sink out to access the nut.

   submitted by /u/Difficult-Audience77
[link] [comments]

Plumbing /u/Difficult-Audience77 Any way to get this P-trap off? https://www.reddit.com/r/Plumbing/comments/1mo66kh/any_way_to_get_this_ptrap_off/ Plumbing help offered here, please post pictures. urn:uuid:4650f48a-bed8-b002-e2fa-444f807cbae6 Tue, 12 Aug 2025 11:31:57 +0000

I dropped something expensive down the drain. A pvc channel or plastic wall Channel that I can drill into the side of the foundation. If you would like a visual I made a video about it on TikTok

   submitted by /u/bbqGawd
[link] [comments]

Plumbing /u/bbqGawd AO Smith Proline Leaking https://www.reddit.com/r/Plumbing/comments/1mo2hbe/ao_smith_proline_leaking/ Plumbing help offered here, please post pictures. urn:uuid:b49055c8-146a-5da2-21f0-06cd559c76cd Tue, 12 Aug 2025 07:46:54 +0000

After just 18 months, I knew AO Smith Proline started leaking all over the basement floor. The inside of the faucet was completely covered with the green buildup. Now that the faucet (made of copper according to landlord) was replaced, I still dont know if it’s safe to drink it.

Anyone has any clue on what the bright green particles could be? It’s the kitchen’s faucet so how can I make sure it’s safe to drink?

Coastal health said they can come collect the water for testing but since it’s a building issue they will charge hundreds for it and give a notice or something to the landlord..

Landlord said he’s not willing to pay for any testing and already gave me hard time about this saying Im taking it too far.

Any advice?

   submitted by /u/Zestyclose_Dog_7245
[link] [comments] Plumbing /u/Zestyclose_Dog_7245 Do I need a plastic Ferrule and brass sleeve in my RO water line? https://www.reddit.com/r/Plumbing/comments/1mo0miv/do_i_need_a_plastic_ferrule_and_brass_sleeve_in/ Plumbing help offered here, please post pictures. urn:uuid:a63eee7a-e70d-174b-3027-221704076397 Tue, 12 Aug 2025 05:51:11 +0000

My installer is saying I need a ferrule compression and brass sleeve. There is a ball at the back of the screw and once you unscrew the ball all the way to the bottom, it doesn’t budge at all. The other side won’t even unscrew at all and seems stuck. Does anyone have any tips on how to unscrew this ball. We tried a drill and a wrench still won’t budge. Not sure how to move forward.
