I'm an upcoming junior at a Florida University, and I'm having to pay all of my school fees out of pocket unexpectedly. I'm working full time to save, but I fear I'm going to run short. I'm looking for scholarships to help me pay tuition and the cost of living. I am a double major in Biological Sciences and Political Science (predental/prelaw), and my father is a drug addict/alcoholic (if that applies to any). I am also LGBT and a woman. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

CBCF Scholarship Update:

So I called the CBCF people yesterday asking for an update/timeline on when people should find out they received the scholarship.

Selections are going out starting yesterday (Wednesday July 9), and will end by next Friday (July 18).

It puts me in a bad position because for school I have to be financially cleared by the 15th to keep my housing spot. Can they at least give me an advanced heads-up whether or not I've received it? I shouldn't have to be put in a bad position because they haven't done any planning, time-wise.

I’m about to enroll in a Masters in Economics at SciencesPo, but I recently discovered that I have no way to fund it other than FAFSA loans for tuition. I’m trying to see if there are any last-minute scholarships/grants I can apply to for tuition or cost of living as a ln international student. I know I should have been looking more in the beginning, but I applied on a whim well after scholarships closed. To make matters worse, I didn’t even know about some of those scholarships. My family can’t really be any source of support. (I know it might sound odd for parents to help during a Masters both of my parents’ parents paid for theirs, and they had hoped to do the same for me). Our situation changed quite quickly this past year though, so that option isn’t viable. Literally any advice you could provide would be helpful.

i just got my acceptance letter today to transfer to a new school due to bullying issues at my previous one. only issue, the new school is hella more expensive and i need money asap.

for context, im homeless and rely on school housing. both my previous and new school offer summer housing, but for both of them it’s pricey. im constantly getting denied for private loans because i already have two out for my first 2 years of school, my credit score is good but not great, and my income is pretty much non-existent. however i start a new job when i move into my summer housing at the next school next week.

i’m looking for scholarships to help me afford summer housing did my last minute school change, as well as some scholarships to help with whatever the FAFSA and merit doesn’t cover.

i’ve applied to a bunch on bold, that one owl website, and a billion random ones i found on different apps and stuff. when i google different scholarships for different things i just apply to all the ones that pop up in hopes i can get a few.

i have a bunch of random essays written using different generic college essay prompts, as i’ve applied to so many scholarships that i just have a huge folder of essays.

i need some help gang. any website recommendations? and i see a bunch of people ask about bold.org and if its legit but there’s never any solid answers. does anyone actually receive stuff from them without signing up for their weird card?

Hi everyone,

I’m a Hispanic first-generation college student and I’m trying to find last-minute scholarships or grants to help cover my first year of college this fall.

I’m a US citizen born in Texas, but I spent most of my life abroad. I came back recently to finish high school and graduated with a 90% GPA (~3.6/4.0) and a 1350 SAT. I’ve been accepted to Texas Tech University and plan to start this fall.

Here’s my current situation:

Total cost after aid: $19,692
Merit scholarship: $2,500
FAFSA loans: $5,500
Remaining balance: around $14,000
No credit history since I lived outside the US most of my life
No cosigner in the US

I’ve already applied to some scholarships and tried a few private lenders, but most either require I be a junior/senior or a US-based cosigner.

Does anyone know of:

Scholarships or micro-grants still open for applications (July/August deadlines)?
Resources or databases for scholarships specific to Hispanic or first-gen students?
Organizations or programs that might help in situations like mine?

I’m determined to make this work and willing to apply to as many as it takes. Any advice or links would mean a lot.

The last time I went scholarship hunting, last summer, I submitted dozens of applications and never even received an email back on what happened to them. As I apply for new ones today, it feels like the exact same thing: I can't figure out which scholarships I want to spend the time and apply for and it feels impossible to find the ones that apply to me. I could search for hours and never even find one that applies to me enough to begin preparing for it.

Is there any advice in this thread? I want to save money with scholarships but it just seems impossible.

Entrants must be non-professional Canadian residents over the age of 16. All fields of creativity related to the advertising community will be considered (e.g. writers, art directors, film makers, recording artists, illustrators, digital artists, etc.).

From the Scholarship Donor: James Lee was a well-respected writer in the advertising industry who won countless national and international awards throughout his career. He passed away suddenly due to an undetected heart defect at the age of 37.

Shortly after his passing The James Lee Foundation was formed by a partnership of advertising agencies, the AAABC, and a collection of James’ friends and family. Knowing James inspired many people to push the boundaries in creativity, developing a creative scholarship in his name felt like a fitting way to honour him.

We keep James’ legacy alive each year by awarding a scholarship to an emerging creative talent who shows the same passion and tenacity that James did.

2. Savvy New Canadians Student Award

Deadline: September 22, 2025

Amount: $1,000

Who is this scholarship for? To be eligible for this scholarship program, students must:

Be enrolled full-time at an accredited university or college (any year and field of study).
Submit a 500-word essay highlighting the importance of financial literacy to you and the steps you are taking to secure a financial future for yourself.
Provide proof of enrollment: student ID, copy of transcript or confirmation of enrollment.
Complete and submit the application form on the site.
Have reached the age of the majority in your province or territory at the time of applying.
The Savvy New Canadians Financial Literacy Scholarship is open to all students at accredited Canadian universities and colleges, including citizens, permanent residents, and international students. Applications are welcomed from both graduate and undergraduate students.

Who is this scholarship for? To qualify for the UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship award you must be an active UFCW Canada member in good standing or a dependent/spouse of active UFCW Canada member in good standing. Eligible candidates cannot have won the BDM scholarship before.

The student must also be enrolled (or will be enrolled on September 30) and attending full-time studies at an accredited Canadian college or university.

From the Scholarship Donor: Each year UFCW Canada offers 18 UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarships worth $1,000 each to active members and their family members for post-secondary study. If you are a UFCW Canada member in good standing, and the student is attending full-time studies at a Canadian university, college, or other recognized post-secondary institution, then you, your spouse and children are eligible to apply for the union scholarship.

4. The Tanya Howe Damsgaard Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: September 15, 2025

Amount: $2,000

Who is this scholarship for? This scholarship will be awarded to:

A full-time students having completed at least 1 year of post-secondary education;
Eligible areas of study include agriculture, pharmacy, science or health sciences;
Can be at a Canadian college or university;
Selection criteria are: agriculture background, community service and academic performance.

From the Scholarship Donor: The Tanya Howe Damsgaard Memorial Scholarship was established by the family and friends of Tanya Howe Damsgaard after her brief battle with cancer. This scholarship is intended to encourage youth with a agriculture background to pursue careers in science and maintain a strong culture of community of service.

5. 2025 Claudette Savaria Bursary from The Communities in Bloom Foundation

Deadline: September 15, 2025

Amount: 2 bursaries of $500

Who is this scholarship for? To qualify for this scholarship application:

Applicant must be registered in, and successfully complete, a full-time post-secondary level pertaining to ornamental and/or environmental horticulture programs in an accredited institution;
Applicant must be involved in a community/attraction participating in the Communities in Bloom program (national or provincial editions).

From the Scholarship Donor: The mission of the Communities in Bloom Foundation, a non-profit organization with registered charitable status, is to fund, develop and disseminate educational material on the value, importance, improvement and sustainable development of green spaces and the natural environment in our society.

6. AIA Canada High Fives for Kids Scholarship

Deadline: September 30, 2025

Amount: $1,000

Who is this scholarship for? This award is open to students who meet the following requirements:

Must be a child of a full time employee in an active AIA Canada member company in good standing. (Current year’s membership dues must be paid)
Confirmation of the parent’s employment must be provided by the member company.
The applicant must be enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program leading to a certificate or diploma at an accredited university, college, technical school.
The applicants must include a 1 page essay telling why they should be considered (achievements, volunteering), the application, a referral letter (teacher or someone in their community), photos of activities and achievements and proof of enrolment.
Can apply via video but must send proof of enrolment.
Applicant selection based on academic achievement (not necessarily in the automotive field), skill, extra-curricular involvement, or special abilities.

From the Scholarship Donor: The High Fives for Kids Foundation, which was established in 2005 as a charitable non-profit organization, assists AIA Canada members and divisions in their efforts to support Canadian charities that benefit children and youth by collecting and redistributing funds.

7. The CTAA Scholarships

Deadline: September 15, 2025

Amount: 3 separate awards of $2,000

Who is this scholarship for? CTAA offers multiple scholarship opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students. Here is a breakdown of each annual scholarship:

CTAA Graduate Scholarship

The CTAA Graduate Scholarship is presented to a student admitted into, or is currently enrolled in, a Canadian university program leading to a post graduate degree which contributes to advances in any facet of asphalt technology. 2. Chad Bradley Scholarship Award

Deadline: August 31, 2025

Amount: $3,000

Who is this scholarship for? The scholarship is available to women enrolled in a full or part-time occupational health and safety related course or program leading to an occupational health and safety certificate, diploma, or degree at an accredited college or university in Canada. - Be a Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant with a permanent physical disability;
- Reside in the province of Ontario;
- Be enrolled in a program at an Ontario University that is a member of Universities Canada or one of Ontario’s 24 Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology for the 2024/2025 academic year;
- Be a Grade 12 student in the province of Ontario, or a student already enrolled in a post-secondary program and looking to advance to either year 2, 3, 4;

The Tamara Gordon Foundation Scholarship assists recipients to defray a portion of the costs to complete their post-secondary education. TGF Scholarships are competitive, and therefore awarded based on academic standing and volunteer contributions within the community. 6. Bill 7 Award

Deadline: August 1, 2025

Amount: Several awards of $4,000 each

Who is this scholarship for? To be eligible to receive a Bill 7 Award scholarship, individuals must also meet all of the following three criteria:

You are attending or accepted by a Post-Secondary Educational Institution in the Province of Ontario;
You are pursuing your first post-secondary program of study;
You identify as lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, two-spirited or queer (LGBTQ).

Who is this scholarship for? This scholarship is open to students who will be enrolled in a post-secondary program in the upcoming academic year. Specifically, applicants must be:

Presently a senior in high school;
Or be transitioning from high school to college or university;
Or be already enrolled in a college or university at any level in the United States or Canada.

Who is this scholarship for? This scholarship is offered to a Canadian high school senior with a documented disability. The student must pursue pursue a degree at an accredited Canadian institution in one of the following fields:

Health care;
Criminal justice;
Community & social services.

Demonstrate — through your answers to the questions in our application — entrepreneurial ambition.

From the Scholarship Donor: The ManCap Foundation offers grants in the names of Alberta entrepreneurs to Alberta high school graduates entering the first year of studies at an accredited Alberta post-secondary institution, in preparation for starting a business. The grants, valued at $5,000 each, are awarded to selected students on the basis of acceptance to one of those institutions, two letters of recommendation and answers to the questions in our application.

4. Mon Sheong Foundation Golden Jubilee Scholarship

Deadline: July 10, 2025

Amount: $4,000

Who is this scholarship for? This award is open to all high school students who meet the following eligibility requirements:

Graduating from an Ontario high school or CEGEP with a minimum average of 80% among their top 6 Grade 12 or CEGEP marks;
Enrolled full-time in a degree or diploma program at a recognized publicly funded Canadian university or college beginning Fall 2025; and
Aspiring to make a difference in their communities.

Applications are evaluated based on academic standing, voluntary community involvement, leadership, character, aspiration to make a difference.

From the Scholarship Donor: Created to commemorate our 50th anniversary, the Mon Sheong Golden Jubilee Scholarship is presented annually to students who demonstrate well-rounded excellence and desire to make real change—whether in their communities or around the world. 5. Petro-Canada Award for Indigenous High School Students

Deadline: July 1, 2025

Amount: $750

Who is this scholarship for? To be eligible, students must be:

Enrolled full-time in a high school within Canada.
Have a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number.
Students must be under the age of 19 and a Canadian citizen.

From the Scholarship Donor: The Petro-Canada Award for Indigenous Students is for Canadian First Nations, Inuit and Métis students who are enrolled in a Canadian high school program and are under the age of 19.

6. Support Our Troops National Scholarship Program

Deadline: July 17, 2025

Amount: Up to $5,000

Who is this scholarship for? To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must be a:

Spouse and/or dependent(s) of a serving member of the CAF that are:
Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and
Enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or vocational program, at an accredited Canadian college or university, leading to a degree, diploma or certificate.

7. The OTA Education Foundation

Deadline: July 15, 2025

Amount: Multiple awards up to $1,500

Who is this scholarship for? There are several awards with unique eligibility requirements. Please see scholarship provider for specific details. However, general guidelines are that applicants must be:

A resident of Canada;
25 years of age or younger as of January 1 of the academic year for which the scholarship applies;
Enrolled on a full-time basis in a public Canadian university or college program that is a minimum of 2 years in length, and that will lead to a diploma or degree;
The child of at least one parent who works in the Ontario trucking industry.

Who is this scholarship for? This is a STEM scholarship for Canadian students. Applicants must be nominated by their high school. Students must also be set to graduate high school or cégep in this academic year. Additionally students have to:

Plan to enroll in an eligible STEM program
Display the following:
- Academic excellence;
- Leadership, charisma, and creativity.
Strong consideration is given to entrepreneurial-minded students planning to pursue a career in:
