Need advice as a first generation college student

So Im basically writing this to ask for advice on how to best cover my schooling. Im finishing with my AA from highschool and intend to transfer to the University of Florida for business in the fall of 2026. Ive already done FAFSA and although I did get some it wont cover all of my funds and the living expenses. I was wondering if anyone knows of good scholarships to try for and also sort of how to go about choosing the ones I apply for (No one in my family knows anything about this stuff). Ill list my stats below.

highschool gpa: 3.7

SAT: 1110

AA gpa (currently): 3.82

Also I feel that its worth mentioning im from a family of 6 with a lower income since I know this at times can play to my advantage. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Guys I have started igcse 2 months ago. But before my major goal is to complete IB via UWC scholarship. Therefore it requires Year 10 or 11 completion. I took medicine stream so 7 subs intoal(including h-bio). It is damn expensive in my school so I have been thinking about switching to GED. Since my igcse exam target is 2027 may june. It is still too long to complete and dun want to wait that long. Ik that GED is not enough for medical school, that's why I am talking about UWC scholarship.

Should I stop IGCSE and pursue GED already. for better suggestion I am 09 liner.

Accidentally awarded a full ride

so I applied to a college with an ACT score and was only supposed to receive $4k a year for a merit scholarship. I received an official email saying that I was awarded a Presidential scholarship for $12k per year. I don’t meet the ACT requirement for this scholarship but it is in my official student account. I’ve accepted the scholarship but is it likely it will be revoked? If so do I have any legal standing I can argue for to keep it?

So I am pretty competttive and pretry sure I will get an army rotc scholarship based on what my mps said in our Interview I have a 4.0 gpa 28 ACT and plenty of leadership and athletic feats plus I got a really good score of the fitness test however the one thing I’m worried about is the schools I can use the scholarship for

You need to put 3 public in state colleges so I really only have 5 out of state options so heres my question I want to apply for duke and Princeton but I don’t know if I would be accepted or not and so I don’t want to put them as options for the scholarship and waste those slots if I don’t get accepted So do you think it would be worth it to wait to apply for the scholarship until the second board so I know what colleges I have been accepted into before putting them on my school of interest since I have to pick from those 5 or should I apply to the first board so that I’m more likely to get a scholarship or does it not matter that much if I’m very competttive for it anyways

I got accepted for a fund amount of $500. Everything seemed standard given the other scholarships I have applied for and received. But this one I got an email saying that my payment has been sent (nothing strange) but then at the same time I get another email from rewards@rewards.tremendous.com with a link to claim my funds in either the form of a gift card or bank transfer? This is scholarship is linked on my college’s website and everything else seems legit. There’s a chance that the email with the link is a scam not affiliated with the actual fund, but i received them literally the same minute. I want to see if anyone else has received this scholarship and how they received the funds because everything I can find in them seems trustworthy except for that link.

Been grinding through scholarship apps and my essays all sound the same. "I overcame challenges, learned resilience, want to help others." Like every other first gen student probably writes the exact same thing.

What makes essays memorable? I have tried, but cant figure it out.

Really trying to maximize my chances since I need every dollar I can get for college. Don't want to waste time on cookie cutter essays that are never awarded into the pile.

It’s been more than 6 months since my scholarship was approved, but the amount still hasn’t been credited yet. Does anyone have any idea why the scholarship hasn’t arrived yet? From the Scholarship Donor: The vision of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program is to be one of the most prestigious scholarships in the country, dedicated to honouring and advancing the humanitarian legacy of Terry Fox – one of Canada’s most recognized heroes – by encouraging Canadian youth to emulate Terry’s courage and determination through volunteer work and humanitarian services.

2. Burger King Scholars Program

Deadline: December 15, 2025

Amount: Various prizes between $1,000 and $50,000

Who is this scholarship for? Applicants must be living in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico. The prize is open to high school seniors. Those who have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent. Plan to enroll as a full-time student, without interruption, for the entire academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico.

From the Scholarship Donor: The BURGER KING℠ Scholars program assists employees, employees’ spouses or domestic partners, employees’ children and high school seniors in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada in continuing their education. To date, the program has awarded more than $53 million in scholarships to more than 46,000 students. Last year alone, $4.3 million in scholarships were awarded to nearly 4,000 deserving students.

3. TrustedPros Scholarships

Deadline: December 15, 2025

Amount: $1,000

Who is this scholarship for? Those interested in applying for applying for scholarship consideration must:

Be Canadian or US residents enrolled in an accredited Canadian or US college, university or trade school
Have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher
Have a demonstrated financial need.

From the Scholarship Donor: As the demand for construction and home improvement specialists in Canada and the US continues to grow, the need for skilled tradespeople is increasing by leaps and bounds. This will depend largely on the ability of training programs to turn out highly-qualified individuals who will provide the backbone of the industry.

To help ensure that these fields will be able to meet the need for specialized skills in years to come, Toronto-based home improvement platform TrustedPros has instituted a scholarship program.

4. Strike Group Women in Energy Scholarship

Deadline: December 31, 2025

Amount: $2,000

Who is this scholarship for? This scholarship will be awarded to students who will:

Be enrolled in full time post-secondary that is specific to the Energy and/or Construction industry, or a trades program in Western Canada and maintain satisfactory academic standing throughout the program;
Committed to updating Strike on academic progress throughout duration of their program;
Be a person that identifies as a female;
Must currently live in Western Canada (ie. British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba).

From the Scholarship Donor: Strike is helping create equal opportunities for women and creating an atmosphere of respect and acceptance.
