The Chinese government has vowed to not back down in the face of President Trump's ratcheting up of tariffs on a top US trading partner. With tariffs of 104 percent and 84 percent respectively, how far will this spat between the US and China go...and what can consumers expect? If Putin wanted to kill America, how would he best do it? Exactly like this:

— Install a puppet or ally inside the government; as Lincoln foresaw, a tyrant doesn’t need to invade. He just needs to rise from within. Trump has repeatedly echoed Kremlin talking points, undermined NATO, attacked Ukraine, praised autocrats, and created chaos at home. If Putin picked a candidate, it would be Trump — and the intelligence community has confirmed Russian efforts to help him win in both 2016 and 2020.

— Dismantle American institutions from the inside; Putin’s best move would be to encourage the erosion of U.S. government capacity: devalue science, underfund law enforcement, defund agencies, destroy trust in elections, and sabotage public health. All are happening as you read these words.

$1 Trillion Military Budget Coming? Watch The Demise of the Fake Economic System

President Trump casually mentioned that the U.S. will have its first TRILLION dollar military budget. This does not, in any sense, sound like a government looking to cut waste, fraud and abuse. We have been bankrupted (economically, and more importantly, morally) by a century of endless wars. The federal debt continues to rise, even with total Republican control. This is all bad news for our nation.

Can Virginia Republicans Halt Left’s Extreme Abortion-Until-Birth Amendment?

If we all had a dollar for every time we’ve been told, “This is the most important election of our lifetime,” we could afford to get the graffiti cleaned off our Telsas. However, before you tune out the election noise this year, consider the impact of one horrific constitutional amendment in Virginia that will be decided in the next General Assembly session.

Conservatives want to block House Joint Resolution 1, or as they call it, “the abortion amendment.” HJ 1 would enshrine in the Virginia Constitution the “right” to abort a baby right up until it is about to be born. One delegate was heard saying that “it used to be the second trimester, now it’s the second contraction.”

Given the unanimity that supporters of the amendment in the Democratic Party have, the GOP needs to take the majority in the House of Delegates in this fall’s Virginia General Assembly elections to have any hope of blocking it, so they are looking past the gubernatorial race to races for House seats they feel are “flippable.”

Liberation or Obliteration?

President Trump was elected in part because he promised to reduce prices and not drag the country into foreign wars. Sadly, President Trump has adopted a tariff policy that will raise prices and abandoned his “America First” foreign policy in favor of a return to Bush-era neoconservatism.

Despite criticizing President Biden for bombing Yemen, President Trump has authorized bombing that country under the false pretense that Yemen’s Houthis are threatening international shipping. President Trump has also threatened to bomb Iran. A false justification for this threat is that Iran is controlling the Houthis. If President Trump follows through on this threat against Iran, it could lead to another “forever war.” He has also continued US support for Israel and Ukraine’s wars.

President Trump started a trade war by imposing a ten percent universal tariff on imported products and other tariff expansions. Chinese imports will face a tariff of 54 percent, while goods imported from the European Union will “only” be assessed a 20 percent tariff.

The day following President Trump’s tariffs announcement, US stocks lost 3.1 trillion dollars in value, while the dollar fell to its weakest level since October.

China responded to the tariffs by imposing a 34 percent tariff on US imports along with other measures increasing the costs of US products in China. Canada imposed a 25 percent tariff on cars imported from the US. France President Emmanuel Macron called on European businesses to refrain from investing in American businesses, saying it makes little sense to invest in America when the US is punishing Europe.

President Trump’s actions are setting off a global trade war that means US consumers will suffer from increased prices for many products both foreign and domestic. Manufacturing and other American businesses that rely on imported raw materials and other inputs from abroad will have to pay more for these inputs, assuming they are able to get them at all. US exporters will suffer from decreased demand for US products in overseas markets.

According to estimates by the Budget Lab at Yale University, President Trump’s tariffs will cost the average American household a 3,800 dollars loss of purchasing power. The Tax Foundation estimates the tariffs will reduce US GDP by at least 0.7 percent and decrease the average American’s after-tax income by about two percent. Middle- and lower-income Americans will obviously be hardest hit. The decrease in income, combined with the increase in prices and increase in the unemployment rate, will raise demand for government welfare programs and thus put pressure on Congress to reject attempts to cut spending.

Thus far, Trump’s response to the economic chaos he has unleashed is to say everything will work out as other countries will negotiate “beautiful” trade deals with the US. President Trump, on the same day he announced the new tariffs, called on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates, saying it was a “perfect time” to do so. The interest rate cut, though, would only further degrade the dollar and further burden Americans with increasing prices.

President Trump called the day he announced his tariff plan “Liberation Day.” This may be the most misleading name since the Affordable Care Act. Renaissance Macro Research head of US economic research Neil Dutta more appropriately labeled it “Obliteration Day.” President Trump’s tariffs, along with his support for war, could obliterate what is left of America’s peace and prosperity.

(Reckonin’) – In the upcoming commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of American Independence, and in current politics and international relations, secession is an idea that never goes away, but is often misunderstood. The verb “secede” is derived from the Latin “secessio,” meaning any act of withdrawal. Originally introduced in the seventeenth century as a concept of ecclesiastical discourse and political theory, secession assumes the existence of the modern state, as well as the possibility of dismemberment of the state. In our rather limited and unrefined context, it has been understood simply as the withdrawal by the Southern states from the Federal Union following the election of Abraham Lincoln to the presidency in November of 1860. A fuller understanding of the vitality of the term requires more exploration.

For example, the structure of the political system, the original intentions of some framers of the constitution, and the citizenry’s prevailing understanding of the political order during the Early Republic may have encouraged a diversity of opinions regarding the fundamental nature of the union. Concerns arose in many quarters during the Constitutional Convention and ratification process, especially among the Antifederalists who feared that an overbearing national government would assume the authority of the states. Article Two of the Articles of Confederation had contained explicit provisions for protecting states, initiating a system whereby “each state retains its sovereignty.” Various early state constitutions included provisions outlining the primacy of states in the confederal arrangement, often at the expense of a unified political order. The most popular form of amendment requested during the state ratification conventions and proposed to the First Congress concerned a reserved powers clause. More Spending, More Debts, More War — And A Trade War?

America has massive problems, which can be summed up in two words -- overwhelming government. Despite some impressive exposures from DOGE, our chief problem is being exacerbated. (The Federalist) – When Donald Trump first sailed into the Oval Office, his detractors shrieked that his blunt rhetoric was dividing the country. His supporters pointed out that Trump wasn’t so much creating division as he was revealing divisions that had been growing in America for a long time.

The reaction to the novel Wuhan coronavirus did the country a similar service, by revealing a new fault line: two sets of rules, which were applied differently to Americans depending on their membership in certain political cliques. For the average American who assumed his political leaders still shared the belief that all men are created equal, it was a cruel betrayal.

There’s A Time You’ll Be Forced To Choose And It’s Coming Fast!

As the late Rush Limbaugh used to say, ‘Words mean things.’ Unfortunately, with the passage of time, and the ever-changing winds of culture, historical interpretation, and politics, the meanings of words become muddled. Sometimes they completely lose their true meanings. All of this is true of words like nation and country. In modern, American parlance, those words are used interchangeably by the ruling regime and its lackies in academia and the media to refer to one entity – the united States of America.

Words Mean Things
I hear a lot of our People lamenting the loss of traditional ideas and values in modern society and politics. A typical comment goes something like, ‘We need to get back to the founding principles of America.’ And yet, I do not think that many of our folks truly realize what that would mean to them on a very real and personal level. The founding principles of America did not include the welfare-warfare state, farm subsidies, public schools, or civil rights just to name a few. My theory is that way too many Southrons are quite content with the centralized monstrosity we call the federal government if they perceive that it is doing what they support. Like currently, with our supposed political savior, Donald Trump back at the helm of the ship of state. But let a Joe Biden or Barak Obama get installed, and it is wailing and gnashing of teeth. Curiously, though, whether ‘conservatives’ or ‘liberals’ are in power (in reality, they are one and the same), a majority of Southrons have been duped into believing that the united States of America is their country, their nation, and that they owe it unwavering allegiance regardless.
