Rather than prescribing a specific topic, the festival will encompass a wide range of artistic approaches, encouraging practitioners to engage critically and reflectively with video art as a medium of flow and flux, both as documentation and as a process of creation. It positions the moving image as a form capable of mirroring the complexities and nuances of lived experience. The festival welcomes works that explore the moving image as a device for articulating current and historical contexts, inquiries, and urgencies. It seeks projects that innovatively interrogate and expand the possibilities of moving-image practice, fostering encounters that provoke reflection, interpretation, and dialogue. Through this, the festival aims to create space for audiences to process, question, and engage more deeply with the world around them.

About
Addis Video Art Festival intends to provide a platform for innovative video art in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The festival will screen throughout the city in a variety of locations including street corners, rooftops, public centers and art centers. By sharing video art in both conventional and non-conventional settings, the festival will reach both the artist community and the everyday passerby. The festival aims to create a dialogue between local, and international artists by encouraging digital media culture.

Regulations and Guidelines

• Free submission
• Open to national and international artists
• Submission deadline: August 1, 2026
• Open theme
• Single-channel videos only
• Works must have been produced within the past three years.
• No AI-produced work unless it relates to the concept of the short.
• If the work includes a language other than English, English subtitles are required.
• Maximum duration: 15 minutes
• Up to two works may be submitted per artist, with a separate entry form required for each submission.
• Selected artists will be notified by November 1, at which point a screening copy will be requested.
• Artists are responsible for securing all copyrights for materials used in their work.
• By submitting, the artist agrees to grant the festival permission to screen the selected work during the festival dates and in future programs related to the same edition.

Entry form
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/16Ex2zDUKy_kAnl5UH-uCrrKCwBoJYZMf0nhQo-iIf6Q/viewform?pli=1&pli=1&edit_requested=true
contacts
contact@addisvideoartfestival.net

call: LOVE – POWER – PEACE – The future is now! https://netex.nmartproject.net/?p=13015 netEX – calls & deadlines urn:uuid:51a18a5b-0128-4952-7054-5c9edc0b8f23 Tue, 28 Apr 2026 10:30:46 +0200 Extended Deadline: 31 July 2026 Call for entries LOVE – POWER – PEACE – The future is now! At that time, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, with its confrontation of opposing ideological blocs, inequality on all levels, and civil rights movements, led to a desire for peace, equality, and fraternity, and especially to a willingness to bring about change in society, both internally and externally, through an overflowing spiritual and physical energy. This was also reflected in the art and musical movements of the time.

How similar the images are today! Today, war in Ukraine, the confrontation between democratic and politically authoritarian blocs, growing inequality between rich and poor, and unstoppable climate change, coupled with the danger of losing all the achievements of the past decades, have led to a desire for peace, equality, sustainability as living perspectives for future generations. But where is the necessary spiritual and physical energy?

This is the theme of this new project, curated by Wilfried Agricola de Cologne for “The New Museum of Networked Art.” Artists working with moving images are invited to submit their new videos that visualize this spiritual and physical energy using innovative content and design methods.

Please use the following entry form for submitting videos only which have not been submitted before and use for each submitted video a separate entry form.

Regulations

– extended deadline: 31 July 2026
– no age limit
– no entry fee
– submissions by film/video from all countries on the globe to be submitted exclusively online
– max 3 works can be submitted for each category film/video
– wanted: single channel videos in mp4 – duration between 1 minute and 10 minutes (exceptions possible on request)
– creations using language and/or text other than English need English subtitles
– The full-length films/videos may be produced between 2015-2024. The festival promotes a free and stimulating platform for sharing, showcasing what is usually neglected or rejected due to its departure from conventional approaches to making and interpreting cinema. After 3 first successful editions with the support of the French Embassy in Indonesia and the French Institute in France and in Indonesia, the ADIR program is entering a new phase to expand the residency wider, by involving more stakeholders from the local and international creative ecosystem to further deepen the creative dialogue which has made this program so relevant.

In this new phase, ADIR will invite two designers, one from France and one from Indonesia in partnership with Arcade – Design à la campagne based in Burgundy. To enrich this unique experience, ADIR will welcome an audio-visual artist to participate in the residency alongside the two designers as part of the ADIR 4U self-funded residency program.

For its 2026 – 2027 edition, ADIR is responding to Arcade’s current involvement in Tomorrow, forests, a multi-disciplinary project blending science, practices, culture and creativity to explore the future of forests in the Burgundy region.

Everywhere in the world, forests are indeed increasingly at the center of crucial issues: sustainable management of natural resources, ecological degradation, transmission of forestry-related know-how and crafts, preservation of biodiversity, the evolution of our perception about these ecosystems that sustain our lives. Recent disruptions that impacted Bali further fuel ADIR’s direction towards environmental concerns.

Design and art are some of the disciplines through which the project aims to explore the bond between humans and forests, especially to invent new ways to better understand, interact with and highlight the value of these vital natural spaces. In association with the project, ADIR will provide a multicultural space of experimentation for the designers and the artist to develop their own interpretations and perspectives on this complex multi-faceted theme in specific local natural and cultural environments.

OBJECTIVES

While in Bali, the audio-visual artist will explore this complex topic through the island’s specific cultural and natural context with a focus on its rich arts and crafts traditions. The Balinese belief of living in harmony with God, Mankind and Nature (Tri Hita Karana) has attracted anthropologists, scholars, artists, and visitors alike since the 1920s. Its traditional arts and crafts remain deeply embedded in this belief and play a vital part of various religious rituals across the island. This richness has contributed to the island’s long historical success in tourism but also to an increasingly complex relationship between the preservation of its natural environment and economic development.

The audio-visual artist, alongside the selected designers, will be invited for a 4-week immersive residency, during which they will have the opportunity to explore and delve deeper into Bali’s rich natural environment, unique arts, crafts, traditions and culture through encounters with local artisans, artists and cultural practitioners. This will enable them to embrace the openness and local wisdom inherent in everyday living on the island and respond with sensitivity with his/her own interpretations. As a creative response to these encounters and to the residency’s theme, the artist will be expected to develop an original audio-visual work.

As part of the residency, the audio-visual artist will be expected to share about his/her experience and creative reflections in relation to the residency’s theme with the public in the form of a discussion session. The residency will culminate with an exhibition during which the audio-visual artist will present the result of his/her creative experience and explorations.

Following the return to his/her home country, the artist will complete his/her audio-visual work, which is expected to be showcased at events internationally.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS:

Read our full guidelines, terms and conditions carefully to make sure you are eligible to apply:
Full call terms and conditions

Submit your application by filling our online form:
https://bit.ly/ADIR2026_ApplicationForm_ADIR4U

Please note that:
– Applications submitted through other means will not be accepted.
– Each candidate can submit only one application.
– All applications, including submitted documents must all be in English.
– Any false declaration will void the submitted application.

Application deadline: 31 May 2026, 23:59 (Indonesia Central Time Zone, GMT+8)

More info
https://cushcushgallery.com/ccg/adir4u2026/

call: 2026 Film and Video Poetry Symposium https://netex.nmartproject.net/?p=13028 netEX – calls & deadlines urn:uuid:ab002373-c47a-b268-9ac4-f25a90be6271 Sat, 04 Apr 2026 12:27:58 +0200 Deadline: 31 August 2026 Call for entries 2026 Film and Video Poetry Symposium Submissions Are Now Open https://www.fvpsociety.com/callforentry Poets, writers, filmmakers, animators, media and video artists are called to submit […]
Deadline: 31 August 2026
Call for entries

2026 Film and Video Poetry Symposium
Submissions Are Now Open
https://www.fvpsociety.com/callforentry

Poets, writers, filmmakers, animators, media and video artists are called to submit their work to the 2026 Film and Video Poetry Symposium.
Deadline Monday August 31, 2026

The symposium screens a wide range of films developed through the lens of poetry. We also feature a curated media and video art gallery, along with panels, speakers, workshops, and public dialogues.

The symposium calls all digital and film works that hybridize poetry, including, but not limited to videopoetry, poetry video, Cin(E)-Poetry, filmpoems, choreopoems, poetry films, digital-poetry, videopoema, motion poems, visual poetry, choreopoem, and poetronica.

Please also submit documentary, animation, and performance art that explores or evokes poetry.

New Technologies: artificial intelligence, virtual reality & experimental video games are called to submit. Media installations and video art (single, multi-channeled, and/or sculptural) that explore aspects of poetry or text art are regularly selected for our gallery.

We encourage experimental filmmakers to submit work that operates within or outside of the realm of poetry. Artists’ moving image, avant-garde, and slow cinema filmmakers are encouraged to do the same. The symposium highlights essay film, epistolary film, and oratorical works this way as well.

Please see the categories below for additional details.

Videopoetry / Poetry Film
Works completed digitally or on film in this category fuse spoken poetry and/or text with visual imagery; such as performance or graphics, and sound. This integration, in which elements may function both independently and interdependently, creates a heightened presentation and interpretation of meaning. (Also known as video poetry, video-visual poetry, poetry film, poetry video, media poetry, or Cin(E)-Poetry.)

Essay Film
An essay film (“cinematic essay” or “personal essay film”) consists of the evolution of a theme or an idea rather than a plot, or the film literally being a cinematic accompaniment to a narrator reading an essay. From another perspective, an essay film could be defined as a documentary film visual basis combined with a form of commentary that contains elements of an experience or a self-portrait (rather than autobiography), where the signature (rather than the life story) of the filmmaker is apparent.

Experimental
Operating outside the boundaries of occupied cinema, the field of experimental film, experimental cinema, (we include the avant-garde) are modes of filmmaking that rigorously re-evaluates cinematic conventions and explore non-narrative forms and alternatives to mainstream narratives or methods of filmmaking. These works may be boundary-pushing, personal, hermeneutic, political, and may operate wholly independently of poetry.

Documentary
Documentary is a nonfiction film or video work intended to constitute itself as a record of evidence about the past. The form is primarily used for archival records, instruction, education, advocacy, and journalism. The Film and Video Poetry Symposium will consider documentaries that contain or are focused on poets, poems, poetry, poetic technique, literary movements, and historical events within these realms.

Animation
Animations created through photographing successive images, drawings and/or positions of puppets, materials, items, or models in order to create an illusion of movement when shown in sequence. This includes stop motion. The Film and Video Poetry Symposium will consider animated work that contains, focused on, or driven by poets, poems, poetry, poetic technique, literary movements, and historical events.

Choreopoem
A choreopoem is a form of dramatic expression comprised of choreography, dance, poetry, performative writing, music, song, art, and acting. For us, diurnal beings so dependent on sight, night often begins with a loss. Between dusk and dawn, it suspends time, veils the world, compels withdrawal. The certainties of day recede, uncertainty rises to the surface, and this is perhaps why it remains the time of contemplation and storytelling, where, in anticipation of the coming day, dreams and imagination awaken. Night displaces the sovereignty of the image.

But it is retreating, bleached, colonized by the boundless spread of artificial lights on land, at sea, in the sky, until the Milky Way itself is erased from our memories. Skyglow, the halo of artificial light suspended like a dome above cities, can be read from space. Outside urban centers, the multiplication of small illuminated pockets fragments the night, cuts continuities, turns corridors into dead ends, and sets lethal traps for birds, insects, and so many other species disoriented by an excess of light.

For some thirty years now, the term nocturnal environment has taken hold to name this threatened vital milieu. A majority of animals live at night. In landscapes saturated with human presence, darkness sometimes becomes the last interval in which to move without being seen, without being driven off one’s path. It opens times for migrations, mating, pollination and crossings. The recent concept of the dark ecological network perfectly expresses the urgency of thinking about night as a network of continuities of darkness to be preserved.

The people of the night live in a world of listening and olfaction, where one locates oneself through rhythms, echoes, aerosols, and wafts of scent. Night changes the grammar of the world. Even flora changes its diction. Some flowers open at night and perfume the air to attract specific pollinators.

It is also an essential time of regeneration for organisms and metabolisms, a discreet workshop where energies and balances are redistributed, where excesses are repaired. The nocturnal drop in temperatures contributes to cooling soils and the atmosphere and supports water cycles. Artificially prolonged daytime weakens these functions. The exhaustion of the world also stems from the drift toward continuous operation, twenty-four hours a day, which denies alternation and consumes bodies and environments alike. Darkness and rest are, nonetheless, vital necessities.

To borrow Édouard Glissant’s expression, night calls for a right to opacity, recognizing the importance of being able to elude the imperatives of transparency and visibility. In politics, night signifies both vigilance and eclipse. A place of welcome for resistance and marginality, it is the chosen time of those who hold on when day closes nights of assemblies and vigils. Nuit Debout offered a clear image of this. But conversely, it can also designate the dark times of totalitarian powers. This is the paradox of night: it emancipates when it shifts the social clock to open a common space; it oppresses when it obscures thought.

The COAL Prize 2026
invites artists to defend the night as a common good, a major ecological issue for the regeneration of life, a refuge, a diversity of languages to be celebrated, a right to rest and to darkness. Inventing stories to relearn how to inhabit the shadows, creating art with the night, is to contribute to an ecology of rhythms. Restoring the fear of the night is a perfect antidote to anthropocentrism, because it forces us to be humble, confronting us with the depths of the sky, the intimacy of the vast, the immensity of the cosmos.

We contrast day and night, even though they form a single unit of life permeated by opposites.
